People say a name says everything about a person but I don't really believe that. Name's are just there so you can refer to your child/pet/object/whatever, directly instead of saying "Child come here!" or "Dog/Cat stop doing that." It just helps point out to whom you are speaking to. It's not like you know what your child is gonna be like the day it is born, so how can you judge what a "proper" name would be. One thing that does bother me a bit though with names is that so many people are so "common" with names an example "Tom, Steve, Mary, Sue." It's not that often that you get an unusual name. Mind you people's opinions on unusual might be different as well so that is hard to say.
Me personally, wouldn't change my name. Why bother? I have been Michelle my whole life now so why change it suddenly? Just so I can throw people off who know me? Changing a name is to much work plus, then you gotta think of another name to call yourself. All in all it's just really to much of a hassle. I have always been Michelle and will continue to always be Michelle, besides I think it would upset my parents if I were to re-name myself because then I would be taking away the name they gave me.
From what I was told I believe my parents named me off a Beatles song, for The Beatles were my dad's favourite band and still are to this day. I got my name and my family nickname from the song "Michelle" by The Beatles. To this day they still call me "Michelle, my belle." I think what made it stick even longer though is the fact that growing up, not only did they nickname me Belle, from a Beatles song but from the fact that growing up Beauty and the Beast was my favourite movie as a kid. So with all that I became Princess Belle, as well. Mostly because my mom is a big Disney nut and they probably enjoyed the thought of their daughter being named after beauty because really, what parent doesn't find their child beautiful. And that is how my name and family nickname came to be because, my dad named me off a Beatles song that ended up leading to a favourite movie of mine when I was a child. The way it all connected together like that in the end though I gotta admit is kind of weird.
Really in the end, I wouldn't change my name because one, i am a lazy person and wouldn't know what to change my name to. Two, why change what is already there? I don't believe in change as it is. Three, my parents named me for their reasons and their reasons alone, I have no right to tamper with that.
